Matthew 28:6 (ESV) He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

At the beginning of April, we gathered for a Good Friday service remembering our Lord’s death on the cross. This was very encouraging as a non-believing family came along for the first time and has continued to come since. The youngest daughter had been coming to our monthly kids’ club, and they had all come to The Drop-In previously, so it’s great to see how these ministries are working together to serve and to show the love of Christ. In our Easter Sunday service, we took a break from our sermons through Mark and looked at the resurrection, both what happened and why it is so important. The kids had fun and games after the service, including an Easter egg hunt and an egg-rolling competition where they rolled hard-boiled eggs they had decorated down a hill. Our worship band has grown this past month. We have gone from two to five musicians, and this has been another encouragement for us. It is so good to see members keen to use their gifts to serve the Lord, and we are blessed to have them. ![]() ![]() The Grace Kid’s Club had a fun time this month as they also celebrated Easter. The kids played games, heard the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection, did some Easter crafts, and got to throw cream pies at the leaders again! It was great to see a few more kids from the community come in, and we are praying they keep coming. The Ragged School of Theology took a break for Easter but then got back to work. This past month, the students completed the Church History module. This module looked at some big names from the past, such as Charles Spurgeon and Martin Luther, as well as some lesser-known guys known as the Scottish Fisherman Evangelists, all of whom took a stand for the Gospel and saw the Lord do mighty work in saving lost souls. The next module – Bible Handling – will teach how to rightly handle the word of God. Stromness is coming back to life as the weather changes, and the Blue’s Festival came to town. With this and the cruise ships starting to come in again, the streets are busier, and people are happier to stop and chat. It’s definitely easier when there’s not a 60-mile-an-hour wind with torrential rain! We are praying that this will bring more opportunities to be out and about in the town and to meet more people. PRAYER POINTS Pray the Lord keeps growing our church here so that more people in Stromness get saved for the Glory of God Pray that the church members grow in their love for Christ and for one another Pray for the family who have started coming that they come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour Pray for the Lord’s provision for all the staff and for Grace Church Orkney Pray for wisdom as we look for more ways to share the Gospel with those around us ![]() Matt and Cee This month, we’d like to introduce you to Matt and Cee, two of our Gospel Workers. Matt and Cee are married, and between them they have 3 grown-up children and one grandson. Originally from London, they spent many years in rural communities on the South West coast of England, which set them up well to understand life and the challenges faced by people here in Stromness. ![]() After a short stint in Glasgow, they moved to Orkney in January 2025 to serve at Grace Church. They live in the heart of the community, which has meant they are well placed to get to know the people and to build trust and familiarity with them. Neither Matt nor Cee grew up in Christian homes, and they both came to faith later on in adulthood. They have both experienced addiction, abuse, mental health struggles, homelessness, bereavement, and relationship breakdowns – both personally and with friends and family. Yet Christ graciously saved them both and has called them to serve Him in ministry. Since arriving in Stromness and making connections here, they are both actively involved in discipling and evangelizing believers and non-believers in one-to-one relationships, they serve in the Drop-In and at The Harbour support group, going to community groups to meet people, set up and set down for the Sunday service, and serving the church members any way they can. They both attend Ragged School. Matt also preaches on Sundays and leads the team for Mez when he is away. Please pray for them as they seek to serve Christ, that they keep their eyes on Christ and that the Lord strengthens them and uses them for His glory. Matt and Cee need to raise funds to continue in ministry here. We trust the Lord will provide. Please join us in praying for this. If you are able to give financially to support them, we know they would be incredibly thankful.
