Mark 12:30-31(ESV) And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”![]() This past month, we have continued our sermons through the Gospel of Mark, finishing chapter 12 and moving through chapter 13. It’s been great to see how these passages have impacted us all, believers and non-believers alike. Lots of us have had a clearer understanding of Chapter 13, which has calmed fears and reminded us of our need to be ready for the Lord Jesus’ return, as none of us know when that may be. Back in chapter 12, the verses above had a big impact on one lady. When she heard them preached, she was moved to bow the knee to Christ, believe in Him, trusting that He died for her sins, and she repented. This lady is part of a family that has been coming since Easter and whose daughter started coming to our kids’ club. We saw another profession of faith at The Harbour support group. A man who started coming to The Drop-In café and then started coming to Sunday services also came along to The Harbour. After hearing testimonies and teaching, he also fell before Christ, confessing Him as Lord and repenting of his sin. Another opportunity we have been able to take is mentoring a girl from the local school. She has been coming to the kids’ club and has been struggling in school. Her parents were keen for us to help, so we have agreed to meet with her once a week to chat, play games, and tell her about Jesus. We know that it is the Gospel that brings lasting, true change to anyone’s life, no matter how old they are, and the opportunity to share this with a girl from the community, with her parents’ blessing, is amazing for us. We will see how this goes and are praying it opens up more chances to share the Gospel with more people. Graceland Church We were blessed to have a mission team from America come to serve and spend time with us this month. Two guys from Graceland Church, Indiana came and spent the week, and we were grateful for them spending the time here doing some work, encouraging us and sharing their love of Jesus. We will be at Graceland Church in September for the 2nd Annual Advancing the Church Conference, which Graceland has generously offered to host once again. If you’d like to learn more about the event, visit www.advancingthechurch.org ![]() Kids’ Club We held our kids’ club twice this month. We have been holding it once a month, but with numbers picking up and the kids needing more consistency, we held an extra club this month in the church building. From June, we will be running it every two weeks in the Community Centre to allow more room for the kids as well as being a more central place for the community in prayerful hope that more come along. This month, there have been two music festivals in Stromness. Orkney Blues Festival at the beginning of the month and Orkney Folk Festival at the end. The town has been very busy, bringing a real buzz to the place. It has meant, however, that we have had to shift venues from the Community Centre back into the church building. We are blessed to have the option to meet back in there. It was a bit of a squeeze as we have grown in number a fair bit, but the Lord was kind to us, and it worked well. Mez and Jason in Northern Ireland Mez and Jason spent time in Northern Ireland, where Mez spoke and taught at a conference, and Jason shared a testimony of how he came to faith in Jesus.
