Mark 11:9 (ESV) And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”![]() The month of March at Grace Church was another busy one. With Mez still away for the first half, Andrew, Matt, and one of our elders, Tony, continued to preach Sunday services through the Gospel of Mark, with Mez picking up when he returned. It’s been an encouraging time with the people from the Drop-In still coming to the services and still engaging in conversation about the sermons afterward. Amongst other things, we have all been challenged – how would you receive Jesus if He rode into Stromness today? Would you celebrate, would you turn away, would you even recognise Him? How would you worship Him – if you would worship Him at all? ![]() We are starting a new community outreach group this coming month called The Harbour. As well as having biblical ties the name reflects well our town. The Old Norse name for Stromnesswas Hamnavoe which translates as Safe Harbour. Our aim with the group is to invite people who are struggling with life – this could be addiction, poor mental health, grief, loneliness, or anything else that’s a struggle – and to have them hear a short Bible talk relevant to these struggles, followed by a time of questions and discussion. Of course, all this will be accompanied by a cup of tea or coffee, as well as time for prayer. We hope this will give those who come a place where they can feel safe asking questions and seeking Jesus in a relaxed way. The Drop-In continues to open twice a week. We are still seeing regulars come back and have had a couple of new faces. It continues to be a time when people from the community can come into the church building, have a coffee or tea, and a bite to eat, with a friendly chat. Conversations naturally turn to Jesus, and the guys from the church serving there can tell of the hope they find in Christ. ![]() The 13th and 14th of March saw the 20schemes Glasgow Weekender take place at Harper Church in Glasgow. The staff all went down for the weekend for a time of encouragement and to meet up with others. Mez returned from America in the week before to attend meetings and to speak on the topic of contentment. It was a busy time, with many people visiting from America who are interested in the work of 20schemes. There were also some who were applying to come and work in the schemes of Scotland to share the good news of Christ. Sermon sessions from the event will be available soon on the 20schemes YouTube channel.
